Announced on 28 July 2026 alongside the official launch of AI Malaysia Berhad, the Malaysia AI Safety Institute (MY-AISafe) is one of AI Malaysia's six strategic functions, reflecting the nation's commitment to strengthening AI safety, evaluation and technical assurance capabilities.

As part of Malaysia's national AI ecosystem under the Ministry of Digital, MY-AISafe contributes to E12: AI Trust Function under the National AI Action Plan 2026–2030, supporting the development of a safer, more trusted and accountable AI ecosystem as adoption accelerates across government, industry and society.
